Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment." - Matthew 22:37-38
Many people believe that being a kind, good person is all that is required to be good with God. Do you have a personal relationship with God? Jesus taught that the first step is to love God.
Prayerfully engaging with the Word of God is how we grow in our relationship to God. It's where we turn to get to know Him and His purpose for our lives.
We gather together as believers for corporate worship to declare our love for God. Together, we remind one another Who we love above all else!
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ - Matthew 22:39
Jesus told stories about a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son to emphasize God's special concern for those who are farthest from Him. As Jesus followers, we cannot help but love the lost as He does.
We are called to be the body of Christ. Christ's physical hands and feet are not present but ours are. And so we strive to love people the way He would.
We are also called to live as the family of God. Here at NCC, it does not matter whether we are rich or poor, male or female, black or white or anything else. It matters that we are brother and sisters in Christ!
"If you love me, keep my commands." - John 14:15 (Jesus)
Jesus came to serve, not be served. We cannot "live it out" without serving others. It's what we do. You'll find us serving one another around NCC but you'll also find us serving the needs of our community!
Living out our faith also means going deeper with God. Through prayer, Bible Study and more, you'll find us pursuing personal intimacy with God.
And finally, Jesus and His apostles made it clear that we will never be able to live it out without the power of the Holy Spirit. So we do not claim to be perfect people, just imperfect people relying on the power of a perfect God!
